Fifty dollars

Posted by Amota Eromanga on September 14, 2012 at 3:00 PM

In my family, I have only one sister. She is older than me. She is very bad as she always tells our mother bad things about me. That’s why mother thinks that I am naughty. Not just that, but my sister is also greedy for money.

One day, mother gave me some money for my good school report. She gave me twenty dollars and reminded me that it was for me only. She didn’t give any to my sister since she got poor marks at school. But my bad sister took the fifty dollar note from me by force and ran away. She was ignorant and selfish. She went to the shop with her friends to buy what they wanted.

fifty dollarsI told mother but it was late - my sister was already gone. I was angry and sad. It was the beginning of the school holiday sessions and some friends had invited me to spend some days with them at their houses. I would need money when I was away with my friends and from home. Tears ran down my cheeks. My heart was full of sadness. I also wanted to walk around with some money in my pocket. Going around with money in my pocket put me on cloud nine.

I went to the main road and kept walking along slowly. I looked up into the sky then down onto the ground - thinking about my sister and the money. As my eyes were still down, I was shocked to see a small yellow piece of paper lying on the ground. With eyes wide open, I knew it was a fifty dollar note!
