The Promise

Posted by Amota Eromanga on July 9, 2012 at 3:15 AM Comments comments (0)

When I was in Form 2, there was someone who was very special to me and that was Tokanteata, my best friend. Tokanteata was a real friend to me. She was so kind and always showed respect to her parents and to all her teachers. Tokanteata and I made a promise that we wouldn’t get married nor drink liquor until we got our jobs. I supported that so we swore to each other and if one of us broke that promise, we would never forgive each other.

A few months later, something went wrong -...

“What if my best friend finds out?” I asked him.

“No, she’ll never find out about us. We will keep this a secret.” he replied.

Well, I cheated on my best friend. Her boyfriend and I had been dating for the past few days and she didn’t know about us. My best friend’s name was Temaua and her boyfriend’s name was Johnny. He was so handsome. He had brown eyes with fair skin, thin and pink lips. Well, he had been Temaua’s boyfriend...

Nei Miri began,”Teretia, can you teach me how to use a telephone?”

Teacher Came To My Parents

Posted by Amota Eromanga on June 10, 2012 at 1:35 PM Comments comments (0)

I did not know what to do when my teacher came to see my parents. I was afraid because I knew I had done something wrong at school. The teacher found me drinking beer at the back of the school compound.

I ran away because I knew he would take me to the Principal. I scooted off and soon very far from him. At around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, I went back home and tried to control myself so my parents would not notice that I had been drinking.

While I was eating my lunch, I saw my...

Happiest Day Of My Life

Posted by Amota Eromanga on June 10, 2012 at 3:10 AM Comments comments (0)

I didn't expect my mother to wake me up and asked me to pack the things I would need for travelling. I didn't know why but as I was asked to hurry, I began packing without having time to ask questions.

When I finished packing, I then asked for the reason. "Why am I packing and where am I going?"

"Dear, you and I are going to Fiji. We'll be attending your sister's 21st Birthday there." my mother answered.

"Woow! And .. what day are we going?" I asked excitedly.

A few more days before my fiance arrived in Kiribati from Hawaii. I was very happy when I got a mail from him saying that he had something to tell me when he came back. Thoughts were running through my mind thinking that may be he was going to fix our wedding day.

I couldn't imagine how happy I was. My friends were suprised to see me like that. They asked why and I told them of my coming man and his mail. "He is going to tell me something." I told my friends.

"Congratulations girl...

School Life

Last year when I was in Form 2, I was chosen as a female Captain of my form. My partner (male captain) was a very handsome boy who had blue eyes like the color of the deep ocean and his lips were red like red roses. His eyes and lips were the first to have ever seen in my life. Oh and I would tell you my secret - inside my pure heart, I really had a feeling for him.

One morning when I was busy studying my English, one of my classmates ran to me and said, "Hey, your partner asked for you...

Afraid Of What I Have Seen

Posted by Amota Eromanga on June 5, 2012 at 1:30 AM Comments comments (1)

On Friday afternoon after school, I quickly prepared myself before my friends came. At about 8 in the evening, my friends came and we went to the Betio Sport Complex. It was a very dark night and raining too.

When we arrived at the Sports Complex, there were many people sitting there. We walked around to find our place that we would feel comfortable to sit. I saw my brother, so I told my friends that we all must go to him. He was very surprised to see me as I was now very far away ...

Dead Man's Body

Posted by Amota Eromanga on June 3, 2012 at 2:50 PM Comments comments (0)

It really was a dead man's body. I came across this body while I was out swimming in the sea. When I first saw it, I was very shocked!

I quickly ran up and to my house. I told everyone about what I had seen. When they heard me, they ran straight to the scene to see and prove what I'd told them. As they came closer to the body, they started smelling something very bad so they tightly covered their noses.

They brought the body onto the land and called the police. I was amo...

Don't Leave Me Again

Posted by Amota Eromanga on June 3, 2012 at 2:30 AM Comments comments (0)

We did our school work every night from 7 till 9 o'clock. After doing our school work, we sometimes watched video till almost midnight. I lived with my little brother and sister in our house at the end of the village. Our dad passed away more than a year ago so we were left behind with our mum who sometimes came home late at night.

There were occassional nights, when I felt afraid of the trees that seemed moving or shaking outside our home. Sometimes I seemed to see somebody coming...
